Actress Alba Shtembari has published a video on social networks, where she reveals that she,
her partner and a relative were raped by police officers during the protest in Tirana.
Shtembari said that the incident happened around 20:20, in the center of Tirana,
near the UFO area, where according to her they were standing peacefully and following the protest from afar.
“Today at 20:20, in the center of Tirana, at UFO, I, my partner and one of our relatives were standing peacefully, following the protest from afar. We were not doing anything illegal”, she said.
The actress said that Police vehicles were moving towards the most tense area of the protest, but according to her, they stopped near the place where their group was located. She says that the officers approached them without warning and then chased them with rubber batons.
“When they came down, they didn't look like police, but like a bunch of gangsters dressed in the uniform of the Eagles and without any communication they attacked us with all the power they had. They chased us with rubber sticks”, Shtembari said.
According to her account, the partner was hit in the back of the head after he stopped to protect her while leaving.
“I remember running into other people trying to escape and my partner, who stopped running to save me, was hit in the back of the head with a rubber baton by an Eagles officer, with the full force of his arm. Our relative was also hit.”, she declared.
Shtembari also said that he intends to report “the police to the Police”, although he expressed skepticism about the outcome of the report and criticized the institutions, which he described as corrupt.
