BAD WEATHER! Serious situation in the country with thousands of Albanians
A new wave of bad weather has engulfed several regions of Greece,
while intense rain and storms are expected to continue throughout Monday and Tuesday,
mainly in the western part of the country and the islands of the eastern Aegean.
The most problematic situation was recorded on the island of Rhodes,
where during the first hours of Monday heavy rains caused flooding and extensive damage,
especially in the villages of the eastern part.
During the night, strong storms and heavy rainfall caused water to cover the roads, creating difficulties and danger for the residents of the affected areas.
Among the most damaged areas is Arkangjelosi, where the emergence of a river from its bed caused the streets to turn into powerful streams of water.
As a result of the floods, several vehicles were swept away, while considerable damage was also caused to shops and other commercial premises.
Faced with this situation, emergency teams and relevant services have launched interventions to cope with the consequences of bad weather and to help normalize the situation.
At the same time, work is being done to clean the flooded roads and restore traffic, in order to guarantee the safety of the residents.
Meanwhile, local authorities have decided that schools in the municipalities of Arkhangelos and Afantou, on the island of Rhodes, will remain closed on Monday.
The decision was taken as a preventive measure to protect students and teachers, as well as to avoid unnecessary movements in difficult weather conditions.
