Parents, be careful, yelling at your child can have consequences

Every parent loses patience with their children at some point, and sometimes they start yelling at them. The problem is that children are too talented to get on our last nerve and we on the other hand are burdened with multiple obligations most of the time.

But if yelling is very common in your home, maybe it's time to think about what's going on and choose some alternative ways to communicate with your child.

Reasons why yelling is not effective

There are several reasons why yelling is not a quality form of discipline. The most important thing is to ask yourself what your child is learning when you discipline him by yelling.

There are several reasons why you should lower your voice and calm down before yelling at your child.

You are sending the message to children that aggression is okay

A raised voice may immediately get a child's attention, but ask yourself what the child is learning from that action. When you raise your voice, your child learns that aggression is an acceptable form of communication.

Yelling loses its effectiveness

Will yelling get your child's attention in the short term? Yes.

But here's the thing: Yelling can often make it less effective, as can using a harsh, serious tone.

The child will not respect you

How would you feel if your boss yelled at you when you made a mistake? What would you do if your partner, friend or family member spoke to you like that during an argument? Would you feel attacked, hurt and angry or would you be happy to hear what they are telling you?

No matter what the person is trying to say, you'll be more likely to hear them if they treat you with respect and appreciation rather than noise.

Your child will become withdrawn or angry

Human beings have a natural reaction to yelling. We either withdraw or react the same or similar. You will get such reactions from your child if you yell at them regularly.

You lose control over your emotions

Disapproval, frustration and resentment: these are quite powerful weapons in the disciplinary arsenal of parents.

But yelling shows your child that you're not in control, and you definitely don't want that when you're serving as an authority figure.

Yelling can be more harmful than we think

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have found that harsh verbal discipline, which includes yelling, cursing, or cursing, can be just as harmful to children as hitting.

They also found that children who experienced harsh verbal discipline from their parents were more likely to be depressed or exhibit antisocial or behavioral problems.
