The student protest in Albania has entered its third day with many
protesters who have gathered and are marching in the streets of Tirana.
The protest, according to the students, is against the increase in education costs and against corruption.
Among other things, their request was the resignation of the government
led by Edi Rama, reports ‘Free Europe’.
Meanwhile, Rama denied the possibility of resigning as a result of the protests in an answer to Reuters.
As quoted by Reuters, Rama said that “he will not allow violence to prevent Albania from achieving its goal of joining the European Union”.
In the previous day's protest, dozens of protesters and police officers were injured during clashes that lasted several hours.
Tens of thousands of students who protested on Wednesday set fire to two government buildings and two banks, and threw stones at the police./SYRI.net
