“DO NOT TOUCH MY FLAG!” ALBANIAN ARVANITAS CLAIMS HARDLY WITH THE GREEK EXTREMISTS OF “VORIO EPIRIS"
A tense incident has been reported in Greece, where an Albanian of Arvanite origin verbally clashed with some people who were wearing symbols of “Vorio Epirus”, after the latter allegedly tried to provoke him during a cultural activity.
According to reports, Arvanita had placed the Albanian national flag near the place where the activity was taking place, but this has caused harsh reactions from some present, who have demanded his removal.
“Don't touch my flag! I'm not ashamed of my Albanian blood. This flag represents my history and origin”, he is said to have declared, refusing to lower the red and black flag.
The situation has been tense for several minutes, while local authorities are reported to have intervened to calm the parties. No injuries were reported.
The event has caused reactions on social networks, where many Albanians have welcomed the Arvanite's stance in defense of the flag and his national identity.
