Remove the Slavic toponyms in Albania, restoring the Law of the Albanian Kingdom of May 5, 1937 on this matter!

In the middle of the 14th century, Slavic names for provinces, cities, villages, neighborhoods and rivers were forcibly imposed on all Albanian areas, from north to south. This was a deliberate strategy to extinguish Albanian identity and replace it with Slavic elements.

Faced with this historical reality, on May 5, 1937, during the period of the Albanian Kingdom, the Albanian state adopted a special law for changing the Slavic names of some cities, villages and neighborhoods, with the aim of restoring the national toponymy and the Albanian autochthonous heritage.

Unfortunately, this law was repealed after the invasion of Albania by Italy.

After 1944, due to the political agreements of the communist regime with Yugoslavia, this law was never reinstated, leaving unchanged an important part of our historical heritage, deformed through these toponyms.

Therefore, based on the historical importance of our sovereignty and national identity, this injustice imposed by violence must be undone. For this reason, the Law of the Albanian Kingdom of May 5, 1937 should be restored.

Restoring the historical truth remains an unfulfilled task.
