The election of the president in Kosovo/ Bekim Sejdiu answers Kurti: I have withdrawn from the race, I have closed my candidacy

Bekim Sejdiu reacted publicly after Prime Minister Albin Kurti mentioned his name again as a candidate for the post of President of Kosovo, confirming that his position remains unshakeable.

Sejdiu announced that he has finally withdrawn from the presidential race and that he has once again informed both the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and Prime Minister Kurti about this decision.

“I have informed the LDK and Kurti again that I have withdrawn from the race”, declared Sejdiu in an answer to the media (Infokus), leaving no room for ambiguity.

Sejdi's reaction came immediately after a media conference where Prime Minister Albin Kurti brought his name back to the table of political discussions. Kurti called on the deputies of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) to vote for Sejdiu for president, linking his candidacy to the political agreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the LDK, even though Sejdiu himself has made it clear for a long time that he does not want to be part of this process.

Despite the Prime Minister's insistence, Sejdiu repeated that he has closed the chapter of his candidacy and has reconfirmed this position to all involved parties.

Meanwhile, the issue of electing the head of state remains at the center of the political fever in Pristina, where the parliamentary subjects continue to face the need to find a consensus or solution to overcome the impasse.
