The police in Durres have arrested Fetah Mataj, the husband of the former director of the Post Office in this city, Elisabeta Mataj, who stole 700,000 euros from the Durres Post Office.
Fetah Mataj is accused of “threatening to give away property”.
Mataj was responsible for waste disposal in the Municipality of Durrës. It is suspected that he threatened employees to give him 25,000 new lek per month.
Fetah Mataj was appointed to this post shortly after the scandal, where the ex-wife was accused of embezzling 700,000 euros from the Durrës Post Office. The former director of the Post Office, Elizabeta Mataj, is still under “house arrest”.

The Serious Crimes Specialists of the DVP Durres executed the decision of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durres, for the appointment of the personal security measure “Prison arrest” for the citizen F. M., 44 years old, resident in neighborhood no. 15, Durres.
The Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës has assigned to the citizen F. M. the measure of personal security “Arrest in prison”, for the criminal offense “Coercion by means of threats or violence to give property, carried out in cooperation”.
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further actions.
