From January 2027, Montenegro is expected to implement a new salary model that foresees significant increases in both the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic has presented the program called \u201cEURO MODEL\u201d, through which the minimum net salary will be determined depending on the level of education.<\/p>\n

For employees with primary education or lower, the minimum wage will increase from 600 to 1000 euros. For those with secondary education, the minimum will go from 600 to 1250 euros, while for positions requiring higher education, the minimum salary will reach 1400 euros net per month, from 800 euros that is currently.<\/p>\n

The reform will not only affect minimum wages. Spajic said that there will also be an increase for employees who are currently paid above the minimum. As an example, he mentioned a net salary of 1,600 euros, which with the same cost to the employer can go to around 1,870 euros from January.<\/p>\n

According to the Montenegrin Prime Minister, this amount can even exceed 2000 euros if the social partners accept the government's proposal. At the same time, the reduction of the tax burden on labor is also foreseen, with the aim of easing the costs for employers.<\/p>\n

The Montenegrin government expects the reform to be financed through increased consumption and employment, the fight against the informal economy and other fiscal measures. According to forecasts, the average net salary in the country is expected to increase from around 1000 euros to over 1400 euros.<\/p>\n

Changes are also foreseen for pensions. From 2027, they are expected to be indexed four times a year, while the average pension is expected to exceed 600 euros and the minimum pension 500 euros. Also, in December of this year, every pensioner will benefit from an additional payment of 100 euros.<\/p>\n

With such a reform that brings the minimum wage for some categories up to 1400 euros, Montenegro is setting another wage standard in the region.<\/p>\n

While Albania and Montenegro share the same Balkan reality and are neighboring countries, the difference in the salary level remains one of the issues that raises the question of when Albanian salaries will be able to approach the standards of other countries in the region.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
